In the Spring Festival of 2020, the pneumonia epidemic caused by the COVID-19 virus has attracted global attention, and it has also affected the hearts of overseas Chinese textile and garment entrepreneurs. With the continuous development of the epidemic, Chinese-funded textile and garment merchants associations and enterprises in Southeast Asian countries have shown a strong sense of patriotism and social responsibility, vigorously support the domestic fight against the epidemic through active procurement and fundraising.
On January 27, the Myanmar Chinese Chamber of Commerce issued the "Myanmar Chinese Enterprise Chamber of Commerce's Proposal to Support the Motherland and Fight against Novel Coronavirus Infection Pneumonia" to Chinese-funded enterprises in Myanmar. All branches of the Vietnam-China Chamber of Commerce, various enterprise federations, and various branch associations including the textile and garment industry branch have launched donations and donations.  The Cambodian Chinese Chamber of Commerce also issued an initiative to support the fight against the new pneumonia epidemic to member units on January 28, and mobilized and organized member units and Chinese-funded enterprises in Cambodia to make donations and materials through various channels, which has received positive feedback from many units and enterprises Responsive and great support. Cambodia China Textile Chamber of Commerce mobilized member companies to use their own methods to raise resources such as medical masks and protective clothing for the country. In addition to donations, a large number of masks and protective clothing have been returned to China in batches for use on the front line of the fight against the epidemic. On February 4, Ms. Zhang Haojun, the representative executive chairman of the China (Overseas) Garment Alliance, and Mr. Liu Jianhua, on behalf of the Chinese-funded textile and garment enterprises in Cambodia, delivered more than 30,000 US dollars of donations to the embassy to support the compatriots in the motherland to overcome the epidemic.
While actively carrying out the work of assisting Wuhan to fight the epidemic, Chinese business associations in various countries also refer to domestic measures to comprehensively do a good job in local epidemic prevention and control. Specific measures include: systematically checking the information of Chinese employees returning to work in China, establishing an epidemic daily report system, reducing the purchase of materials from the host country after February to ensure local medical supplies, and doing a good job of publicity and protection for local employees. For example, in early February, as the epidemic became more and more severe, the Bangladesh Overseas Chinese Federation established an emergency liaison group led by President Zhuang Lifeng and Vice President Cai Chunlei to provide the majority of compatriots in Bangladesh with services related to epidemic prevention, including Timely and accurate transmission of epidemic-related information, especially the relevant information from the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and the Bangladeshi government on epidemic prevention and control; assist compatriots entering the country to cooperate with airport quarantine work to avoid problems such as poor communication and excessive emotions; for compatriots Provide reasonable suggestions, advocate self-discipline, avoid conflicts with local people, organize and prepare medical supplies for epidemic prevention, etc. Due to the limited medical resources and dense population in Bangladesh, in order to effectively respond to the epidemic and non-emergency situations, the Hualian Association also suggested that relevant domestic personnel should suspend their work, inspection, and travel in Bangladesh in the near future. The Cambodia China Textile Chamber of Commerce requires member companies to take 14-day quarantine measures for Chinese personnel who return to Cambodia for the Chinese New Year in strict accordance with domestic standards; each factory takes measures such as entry and exit temperature measurement and disinfection for foreign personnel. So far, there has not been a single case of infection in the association's member companies.
