On October 16, 2023, the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) held a press conference on the important project results of the action platform of "sustainable infrastructure construction contributes to the Belt and Road, and accelerates the realization of sustainable development goals" at the Yanqi Lake International Conference Center in Beijing, and presented gifts for the tenth anniversary of the "the Belt and Road" initiative and the third the Belt and Road Summit Cooperation Forum.

 

At the invitation of the UN Global Compact Organization, Chen Dapeng, Vice President of the  China National Textile And Apparel Council, attended the meeting and jointly released one of the achievements with Sanda Ojiambo, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and Director General of the UN Global Compact Organization, Li Changhui, Director General of the Bureau of China and Mongolia of the International Labour Organization, Yang Minde, Chairman of the Investec Group, and others: The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact in the Belt and Road  The Application of Infrastructure Industry under the Initiative: A Guide to Enterprise Practice. The expert team of the Office for Social Responsibility of CNTAC is the main author of this Guidance Manual.

The Guide provides a systematic, comprehensive, and authoritative interpretation of the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact, supported by detailed cases, and aims to provide reference for enterprises participating in the construction of the Belt and Road to understand and apply the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact, make their operations consistent with sustainable development goals, and contribute to the prosperity of mankind and the planet through responsible business activities, Accelerate the achievement of sustainable development goals.

The guidebook can be a guide to a sustainable path towards our goals. It can be seen as a compass guiding every project to become a benchmark for sustainability, inclusivity, and noble ethics.

At this meeting, the Global Compact also released four other outcomes, including Maximizing the Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals: Guidance Manual and Assessment Tools for Enterprises to Promote Sustainable Infrastructure Construction under the Belt and Road InitiativePromoting Project Sustainable Development, Jointly Building High Quality the Belt and Road, and Achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals Enterprise Practice Cases, and "Jointly Building the Belt and Road to Promote Sustainable Development Goals" the online center of best practice, and the logo of the action platform of "sustainable infrastructure construction contributes to the Belt and Road and accelerates the realization of sustainable development goals."

The United Nations Global Compact pointed out that its five major achievements responded to the call of the joint communiqué of the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation Round Table Summit in 2019 for all market participants in the Belt and Road cooperation to "fulfill corporate social responsibility and abide by the United Nations Global Compact," and would more effectively unite global enterprises and support all market participants in the Belt and Road cooperation to fulfill corporate social responsibility, comply with the UN Global Compact, jointly build the "the Belt and Road" to the next brilliant decade, and make important contributions to advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
